For our annual girls-only getaway, we were looking for a cosy, centrally located hotel in Antwerp. Maison Emile ticked all the boxes and was a real success.
Maison Emile is located in a quiet street in Antwerp-South. I parked my car at the back (the hotel lies between two streets) and when I saw the façade, I feared the worst. Luckily, I discovered a few moments later I was in the wrong street and the entrance was in the Emiel Banningstraat. The façade there looked a lot better and more promising.
When you step out of the hotel, you’re right in front of the new Palace of Justice. A few minutes’ walk brings you to the heart of Antwerp-South. It is full of cafés and restaurants, and after a night on the town, you’re in bed in no-time.
Vélo Antwerp's bicycle depot is 100 meters away. You rent a bike here for 4 euros a day.
Maison Emile is a boutique hotel, established in an historic mansion with a beautiful façade. You feel at home straight away. No boring lobby, but a cosy sitting room where the host welcomes you. A few minutes later you’re checked in and you can go to your home for the coming night(s). All 10 rooms are stylishly and tastefully decorated. The mattresses are lovely and soft, and the down duvets are as light as a feather.
The bathrooms are also fantastic. Brilliant white combined with warm wood and equipped with all modern conveniences.
You won’t find a gigantic breakfast buffet in a small boutique hotel. Yet they thought of everything at Maison Emile. A large assortment of bread, meats and cheese, yogurts and fresh fruit. The hosts will prepare your egg à la minute the way you want it. In the mean time they also find time to ask about your plans for the day and are ready with hints and tips.
If you are looking for a good place to stay in Antwerp, I can highly recommend Maison Emile.
